Update: Print Nightmare Vulnerability

Print Nightmare Fix

You may have heard about a new vulnerability affecting Windows Computers called "Print Nightmare". Eugene Networks is aware of this, monitoring updates from government agencies, and performing recommended actions to protect the networks of our clients.

This "Print Nightmare" vulnerability is what is known as a Zero Day Exploit meaning that there is information on how to use this exploit and that there is evidence that it is being used "in the wild" as it is put by malicious actors.

Here’s what we’re doing about it:

  1. For clients that are on one of our Managed Service plans (Eugene Networks Logo by your clock, allows quick IT help, and keeps your computer safe and healthy), we have already deployed a recommended workaround to protect your servers until a Windows Patch is released from Microsoft. We were able to do this rapidly as we have monitoring and patching software on all your systems. In addition to the servers, we have also deployed this fix to your computers as well to be extra cautious.

  2. For clients that are on our Casual Hourly IT Support plans we will be manually applying this fix to your servers only and not the workstations. For those of you that have servers and the capability of something called Group Policy, we will be pushing out a new policy recommended by Microsoft.

These steps fall in line with the current recommendations of government agencies.

If you have any questions or concerns, please send an email into support@eugenenetworks.com so our team can help.

As always, have a beautiful day out there!

Nathan Martin
